备注:Spring Ox with Blessings Reaching the Sky Depicted in this print are the Celestial Official of Good Fortune, the Five Gods of Wealth, and Marshal Zhao Gongming of Zhengyi Xuan Altar. In the lower part of the print are scenes of peasants getting in a rich harvest. The first stroke of the Chinese word Tian (Heaven) is written on the very top fringe, implying divine blessings reaching the sky.
Most interesting is the peasant sitting at the very end of the last stroke of the word Tian beneath the Celestial Official of Good Fortune, a bowl and a pair of chopsticks in hand and the phrase “Depend on heaven for food” engraved beside, indicating that peasants in ancient times prayed for favorable weather and good harvests for they were unable to predict or control natural disasters because of unsophisticated science and technology.
